Father, Son and Holy Spirit by Tim Keller-the dance of relationships

kellIf God was unipersonal, there would have been no love until he created the world. However, if the world was created by a triune God, then relationships of love are what life is all about. The Godhead is characterized by mutual self-giving love as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit orbit around one another in a dance. It is impossible for us to join in if we focus on ourselves, but through Jesus Christ and his sacrificial death on the cross, we can be brought into the dance. Time: an incommunicable attribute of God,by Wayne Grudem, from Systematic Theology

grudem-wayneGrudem suggests:

  • God has no  beginning, end or succession of moments in  his own being, and he sees all time equally vividly, yet God sees events in time and acts in time.
  • God is timeless in his own being. (Ps. 90:2;  Job 36:26; John 8:58; Col. 1:16)
  • God sees all time equally vividly. (Ps. 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8; Isa. 46:9-10)
  • God sees events in time and acts in  time. (Gal. 4:4-5; Acts 17:30-31)
  • We will always exist in time. (Rev. 22:2, 5)
