Andie’s Isle at http://www.andiesisle.com/ is a website of flash/video presentations he has collected which have wholesome messages worthy of contemplation. He states on his homepage that he has no hidden agenda, tracking devices, or costs. There are over 30 videos and he adds more periodically. All are good and uplifting to watch and on which to meditate.

sun_clouds3_500 Speaking to the Heart: 100 Favorite Poems chosen and introduced by Sister Wendy Beckett, fulfills a long-felt need of mine: a book of poetry that deals with topics related to the Christian faith without being saccharine on the one hand or ungodly on the other. Instead, to quote Sister Wendy,

what we have here is a spiritual sense, something far wider and more elemental. There is religious poetry, with its defining religious vocabulary, but not much of it here. Just as I have always felt the essence of great painting was its spirituality, and that this applies as much to Degas’s ballet dancers as it does to Fra Angelico’s virgins, so is it true of poetry.

This is an excellent translation by Kitty Muggeridge, the wife of journalist Malcolm Muggeridge, of the celebrated spiritual classic by Jean-Pierre de Caussade. In his collection of devotions Caussade offers wisdom, hope, and inspiration as he offers advice for living in communion with God by experiencing each moment as a sacrament.

Caussade shows how God speaks to those who seek Him during every moment of every day. He not only encourages a continous selfless and joyful abandonment to God but also gives practical advice on how that can be done.
