This 1995 thought provoking movie is based on a true story about Matthew Poncelet, a convicted rapist/murderer on death row, and his spiritual advisor, Sister Helen Prejean.
Although it deals with the issues of capital punishment the story also causes us to think about revenge and redemption, crime and punishment, guilt and innocence, and fear and salvation.
This is a powerful motion picture, which takes no sides on the issue of capital punishment and does not sermonize. The acting is superb! This movie will encourage you to examine the complexities and yet simplicity of good versus evil and spiritual warfare.
Dead Man Walking with Sean Penn and Susan Saradon is R rated for violence and profanity.
