Repentance is an essential part of the Christian walk, and is a daily activity to maintain our relationship with God. This is part one of three parts that look at how the scriptures portray various aspects of repentance, beginning with God's pleas for our repentance.

2 Corinthians 7:10 For godly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation and brings no regret, but worldly grief produces death.

2 Chronicles 33:10 [ Manasseh Restored after Repentance ] The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they gave no heed.

Hosea 6:1 [ A Call to Repentance ] “Come, let us return to the Lord; for it is he who has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck down, and he will bind us up.

Hosea 14:1 [ A Plea for Repentance ] Return, O Israel, to the Lord your God, for you have stumbled because of your iniquity.

Joel 1:13 [ A Call to Repentance and Prayer ] Put on sackcloth and lament, you priests; wail, you ministers of the altar. Come, pass the night in sackcloth, you ministers of my God! Grain offering and drink offering are withheld from the house of your God.

Jeremiah 3:6 [ A Call to Repentance ] The Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah: Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, how she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and played the whore there?

Jeremiah 8:6 I have given heed and listened, but they do not speak honestly; no one repents of wickedness, saying, “What have I done!” All of them turn to their own course, like a horse plunging headlong into battle.

Jeremiah 9:5 They all deceive their neighbors, and no one speaks the truth; they have taught their tongues to speak lies; they commit iniquity and are too weary to repent.

Ezekiel 14:6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: Repent and turn away from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.

Ezekiel 18:30 Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, all of you according to your ways, says the Lord God. Repent and turn from all your transgressions; otherwise iniquity will be your ruin.

Zechariah 1:6 But my words and my statutes, which I commanded my servants the prophets, did they not overtake your ancestors? So they repented and said, “The Lord of hosts has dealt with us according to our ways and deeds, just as he planned to do.”

Jeremiah 3:6 [ A Call to Repentance ] The Lord said to me in the days of King Josiah: Have you seen what she did, that faithless one, Israel, how she went up on every high hill and under every green tree, and played the whore there?

2 Chronicles 33:10 [ Manasseh Restored after Repentance ] The Lord spoke to Manasseh and to his people, but they gave no heed.
