The Position of Hope by Sylvia Gunter

Sylvia

Important note:

Many people in the US commented on the timeliness of last week's devotional, the day after the presidential election in this country. The Father's Business is not politically driven. Our devotionals are scheduled months in advance. God himself chooses the date order. He designed that this series on hope should fall now. I can do no better than to quote Billy Graham: "All of us care a great deal about our country. Now that the election is over, it is important to remember that whether we are personally pleased with the outcome or not, God wants us to pray for those chosen to be our leaders.

New City Catechism Launched Today by THABITI ANYABWILE

Anyabwile_hiTim Keller and Sam Shammas have put together what I think will be a wonderful aid to the Christian's spiritual life. It's called the New City Catechism and it's an interactive exploration of classic Reformed catechisms.

You can use it on your iPad (there's an app) or on your computer's browser, and it features both text and video meditations on the catechism questions.

Praying the Beatitudes, Part 2 by Sylvia Gunter

Sylvia

After "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness," the Beatitudes turn outward toward our relationship with others.

Blessed are the merciful. Matthew 5:7
Father of mercies, help me open my heart to others. Through me, show them the mercy they need, setting off a chain reaction of grace. I choose to forgive in the measure as I have been forgiven, because Jesus lives in me with His infinite forgiveness. Your promise is, "Give, and it will be given to you." You have already poured out to me overflowing mercy. Keep before me that by the same measure I use, it will be measured to me (Luke 6:38).

Holy Exchange by Sylvia Gunter

In Luke 4:21 after Jesus quoted Isaiah 61, he said, "Today thisscripture is fulfilled in your hearing."
