Joni20RadioBelow is an excerpt from Joni Eareckson Tada's daily devotional.

Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. -- Philippians 2:9-11

I can't wait for the day described in our verse. It will be a glorious, grand day for Jesus! Christ's status as the God-Man means that the Father will give his Son privileges he did not have prior to the incarnation. He will be crowned King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He will receive back his glory because he crushed the Adversary. He will be honored for having rescued sinful man by his own sacrifice.  "Jesus" was the name bestowed at his birth, but "Lord" is what everyone will call him after his exaltation.

When every knee finally bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord, we will confess him as the undisputed Sovereign Ruler of the universe. These confessions will not only come from the saints and angels, but from the demons and lost humanity in hell - everyone will eventually agree that Jesus is Lord. They will do so willfully and happily, or unwillfully and painfully. But they'll do it. Not everyone will be saved, but everyone will acknowledge Jesus as the rightful Ruler of the universe, never to be contested again. What a glorious day that will be!

You can begin practicing for the wonderful "Day of Christ," a day described three times in the book of Philippians - a day of rewards for believers, final salvation, and glorification. But remember, it's Jesus' day. You will be among those who willfully and happily bow the knee to confess that Jesus is Lord!

Father, thank you for all the privileges and honors you will bestow upon your Son on that awesome day. May I bow my knee in submission to him even now while I'm on earth.
