clouds12 greatOne of the overriding themes throughout scripture is praising God regardless of our circumstances.

One of the main ways we are encouraged to praise him is through song--singing our love for him, our trust in him, our recognition that he is in control and will deliver us. Below are some scriptures that speak to singing the praises of our loving, almighty God!

Exodus 15:1 [ The Song of Moses and Miriam ] Then Moses and the Israelites sang this song to the Lord: “I will sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea.
Deuteronomy 31 19 “Now write down this song and teach it to the Israelites and have them sing it, so that it may be a witness for me against them. 20 When I have brought them into the land flowing with milk and honey, the land I promised on oath to their ancestors, and when they eat their fill and thrive, they will turn to other gods and worship them, rejecting me and breaking my covenant.
Psalm 59: 16-17 But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress,  my refuge in times of trouble. 17 You are my strength, I sing praise to you; you, God, are my fortress, my God on whom I can rely.
Psalm 63:5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
Psalm 96 Sing to the Lord a new song; sing to the Lord, all the earth. Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deeds among all peoples.
Isaiah 35:10 and those the Lord has rescued will return. They will enter Zion with singing; everlasting joy will crown their heads. Gladness and joy will overtake them, and sorrow and sighing will flee away.
Zephaniah 3:16-18 16 On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:Do not fear, O Zion;    do not let your hands grow weak. 17 The Lord, your God, is in your midst,     a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you[a] in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing 18     as on a day of festival.[b] I will remove disaster from you,[c]   so that you will not bear reproach for it.
Acts 16:25-26 25 About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the prisoners were listening to them. 26 Suddenly there was an earthquake, so violent that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened and everyone’s chains were unfastened.
Revelation 4:9-11 9 And whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to the one who is seated on the throne, who lives forever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall before the one who is seated on the throne and worship the one who lives forever and ever; they cast their crowns before the throne, singing, 11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God,     to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things,     and by your will they existed and were created.”
Revelation 5:11-13 11 Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders; they numbered myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, 12 singing with full voice, “Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” 13 Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing, “To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!”

And there are more!
Exodus 15:21 Miriam sang to them: “Sing to the Lord, for he is highly exalted. Both horse and driver he has hurled into the sea.”
Judges 5: 2 “When the princes in Israel take the lead,  when the people willingly offer themselves— praise the Lord! 3 “Hear this, you kings! Listen, you rulers! I, even I, will sing to[a] the Lord; I will praise the Lord, the God of Israel, in song. 4 “When you, Lord, went out from Seir,  when you marched from the land of Edom, the earth shook, the heavens poured,  the clouds poured down water.
1 Samuel 18:6 As they were coming home, when David returned from killing the Philistine, the women came out of all the towns of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with songs of joy, and with musical instruments.
2 Samuel 22:50 Therefore I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will sing the praises of your name.

Nehemiah 12:27 [ Dedication of the City Wall ] Now at the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem they sought out the Levites in all their places, to bring them to Jerusalem to celebrate the dedication with rejoicing, with thanksgivings and with singing, with cymbals, harps, and lyres.
Psalm 26:6-8 6 I wash my hands in innocence, and go around your altar, O Lord, 7 singing aloud a song of thanksgiving, and telling all your wondrous deeds.8 O Lord, I love the house in which you dwell,  and the place where your glory abides.

Ephesians 5:18-20 18... but be filled with the Spirit, 19 as you sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, singing and making melody to the Lord in your hearts, 20 giving thanks to God the Father at all times and for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
