How  much do we care about the people in  Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, or wherever we live? Does God care about them less than those who live in the country, or the suburbs? Tim Keller, pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian in NYC, preached on this topic in a sermon titled "Should I Not Love That Great City?" in October 2001.


True Friendship: The King's Speech-a film

The King's Speech exemplifies the kind of friend that is rare: someone who cares enough about you to stand with you in the worst of situations, and despite knowing your weaknesses, your frailties, still cares about you and works to help you succeed, helping you be the best person you can be. This is just a tiny taste of the love that God has for us, and his unshakeable desire to strengthen us and walk with us--regardless of the circumstances.

Made in His Image: Alex Kirk

World-made, self-made, or  God made? It is a trick question, because the first two are one and the same. When I choose to be self-made, it means I am appropriating the things of this world that fit my desires, my needs. When I choose the be made by God, walking with his son, breathing his spirit, I become a new creation that is much more than the sum of its parts, because my reference point is no longer my self but God, whose all-knowing love enables me to be the person he wants for my wife, for my children, for my workmates, for the strangers I pass on the highway, and the people and events his spirit beckons me to intercede for in  prayer.
