Conversations provides thoughtful, in-depth article treatments of topics aligned around a particular theme. Conversations covers “five continuing themes, each representing an enduring aspect of the soul—thought, emotion, behavior, relationship, and intention.” It is the kind of resource that provides fundamental discussion in discipleship building and incorporates the depth of discussion and authoritative insight that is crucial for individual growth in becoming like Jesus.
One issue from 2008 focused on Mysticism and Divine Awareness, and featured articles about Christian writers such as Evelyn Underhill, C.S. Lewis, Henri Nouwen, to discussion of the way of the mystics, and other discussions under the groupings of transformational theology, honesty about the journey, life together, streams of living water, and classical spiritual exercises.
Another edition, Following the Jesus Way, continued with the categories of transformational theology, honesty about the journey, etc, with articles by Dallas Willard, Eugene Peterson, Emilie Griffin, James Bryan Smith, John Ortberg, among others. This is one of the most richly packed collections of writing available.
The journal comes out twice a year, and functions as one of the more remarkable publications, providing the kind of insight about Christian topics usually found in books.
