Process Spirituality

oldpulley1Eugene Peterson’s book, Eat This Book gets its name from Revelation 10:9-10 when John asks for the scroll containing God’s word and is told to eat it!  In Peterson’s usual pastoral style of writing, he discusses how to read scripture and digest it into one’s self so that scripture is more than just words; it is food for spiritual nourishment. This clear and easy to understand presentation of Peterson’s thoughts on “lectio divina” was published in 2006, contains nine chapters, and has 180 pages. Peterson's 30 years experience as pastor endeavoring to teach his congregation what one thinks the Bible means rather than to receive only information was the impetus for him to write this book. He discusses how to read, meditate, pray, and live a spiritual life.  If you have read Peterson’s translation of the Bible, The Message, you will certainly enjoy reading this book.  It is informative and uplifting.  You will read scripture in greater depth than you ever read it before!
