Fireproof (2008) is the second Christian movie produced by Albany, Georgia’s Sherwood Baptist Church. It focuses on the problem of marriage breakdown in America.
The story involves Caleb, a young firefighter, and Catherine, his working wife, who are about to divorce because of constant arguments, marital conflict and temptations. He is becoming addicted to internet porn and she is contemplating an extramarital affair.
Caleb is a nominal Christian but both are unbelievers. Caleb’s father encourages him to follow a 40-day plan to save his marriage laid out in his Dad’s religious journal.
The movie gets its name from Caleb’s job as a firefighter. He must fireproof his marriage. In the process Caleb and Catherine realize that marriage requires God to be healthy and fulfilling.
