Spirit of the Disciplines, Dallas Willard

Understanding Changes Lives

A good companion to Richard Foster's book Celebration of Discipline, the Path to Spiritual Growth; it provides the reader with an overview on why disciplines are important and the role of the Holy Spirit.

Best of EM Bounds on Prayer

branches2This is a compilation of some of the writings by E.M. Bounds.  I've read a fair amount of books on prayer, but I've never found any so insightful and inspiring as those by Bounds.  His books are grounded in scripture and clearly lay out the need for, as well as benefits to, a life of prayer.  After reading some of his writings, I was very convicted of my sin of prayerlessness and convinced of the power and the necessity of prayer.  This particular book includes twenty-one selections from the following eight books: The Essentials of Prayer, The Necessity of Prayer, The Possibilities of Prayer, Power Through Prayer, Prayer and Praying Men, Purpose in Prayer, The Reality of Prayer, The Weapon of Prayer.
