Caussade shows how God speaks to those who seek Him during every moment of every day. He not only encourages a continous selfless and joyful abandonment to God but also gives practical advice on how that can be done.
Caussade assures us that it is possible to achieve a life filled with grace by contemplation and facing ourselves honestly.
Originally entitled Self-Abandonment to Divine Providence, Jean Pierre Caussade's original, eighteenth-century, book consisted of a series of lectures on the pains and pleasures of surrenduring one's will to God. His comments were first presented as spiritual direction to the Visitation nuns of Nancy, France, before finally being gathered into this timeless collection.
