This He Did Out of Sheer Love By Michael McKinley

MIKEMCKINLEY-41393-300x200From Athanasius’ On the Incarnation of the Word of God (2.8). If you’re looking for a profitable spiritual exercise this Christmas, try reading through this and stopping to praise God for the truth described in each sentence here:

But now He entered the world in a new way, stooping to our level in His love and Self-revealing to us. He saw the reasonable race, the race of men that, like Himself, expressed the Father's Mind, wasting out of existence, and death reigning over all in corruption.

Prayer for a New Year by Sylvia Gunter

SylviaAs we enter a new year, it is so easy to set goals and make plans according to what we think is best. But as I enter 2013 my heart's desire is that we each know what is in God's heart in 2013. Who does God want to be for each of us in 2013? What part of His character does He want to reveal to us in both the joyful and painful circumstances of our lives? This devotional is an invitation to ask God, "What are You saying to me for the new year? What are You doing in my life? Give me a verse or a prayer for the year. Who do You want to be for me now in this season of my life?"

Love by Sylvia Gunter

SylviaAnd now remain these three: faith, hope, and love.

But the greatest of these is love

Listen with your spirit to Romans 8:38-39. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
